Tube modification consists of the manipulation of metal tube or pipe stock into a desired form. The tube modification methods include various bending, end forming, and cutting methods to achieve the part’s final form. Tube bending involves using mechanical force to push stock tube material against a die, forcing the pipe or tube to conform to the shape of the die. End forming is when tube ends are flared, reduced, or shaped into various configurations. The end reshaping allows features like seals, rings, nut fittings, and swage collars to be fitted to tubing, and for the easy connecting to other components. Tube cutting methods include circular blade sawing, band sawing, rotary cutting, shear cutting, and CNC laser cutting.
