Fabrication is the process of assembling custom manufactured and/or purchase parts into a final assembly or structure. Common working materials used are extruded or rolled metal sheet, plates, tubes, and beams. The custom manufacturing methods can involve cutting, machining, punching, drilling, bending, rolling, fitting, reaming, fastening, bonding, welding, and the finishing of components. Fabricators will often form a complete assembly made from smaller sub-assemblies or individual components. The assembly components are commonly bonded using hardware or welding techniques.
